Fees

Consultation fees (excludes investigations such as tear duct syringing or eye scans):

  • £200 for initial consultation
  • £150 for follow up consultation

Consultation fees are aligned with other consultants and Mr Lin’s extensive training and experience.

Time allocated to consultations with Mr Lin are longer than average to allow for more questions and better understanding. Mr Lin believes it important that you fully understand your condition and any possible surgery required as this is an important investment in yourself.

Mr Lin is able to offer video consultations to save you time and travel. Similarly, dissolvable stitches can be used that do not need to be removed. Normally one or two follow-up check-ups are required after surgery.

Surgical fees:

Eye and eyelid surgery is bespoke to each individual’s requirements. As every face is different, every pair of eyes and eyelids is different. Most operations can be performed under local anaesthetic (with you awake), but a general anaesthetic can also be arranged.

All post-op care is included in the fees. You will be provided with Mr Lin’s direct contact number following surgery.

Fees reflect the time and expertise required to deliver optimum care and outcomes aligned with consultants of similar experience. All fee information will be provided prior to surgery.

Frequently asked questions

Why is treatment cheaper abroad?

There is less strict medical regulation, and so clinics are able to cut costs on safety and equipment. All overheads costs are also lower.

In contrast, I have had world-class training in Cambridge, use modern equipment and am based in England.

Every year, I see patients who have gone abroad for surgery with a general plastic surgeon and can no longer close their eyes. The problems of medical tourism have been brought before Government. See here and here. There is little protection or restitution if something goes wrong.

It’s always wise to be careful if someone offers surgery without first carrying out a proper assessment.

What is the waiting time?

Mr Lin can usually see urgent private patients within a week, and perform any urgently required treatment or procedure within 1–3 weeks. This level of timely, specialist care is rarely possible within the NHS, where Mr Lin is the sole consultant in his field responsible for over 500,000 patients.
