Watery eyes (also known as epiphora) can be due to multiple causes, sometimes in combination:
- Overproduction of tears (normally a reflex to protect the eyes)
- Tears not reaching the tear ducts which sit in the inner corner of the eyelids
- Blocked or narrowed tear duct

Mr Lin will assess your eyes, eyelids and tear ducts to determine the cause before discussing the best treatments for you. He will discuss your needs with you in detail. His strong background in teaching allows him to explain with clarity for you.
Mr Lin leads the Lacrimal (tear duct) service at Colchester Eye Centre and runs a dedicated clinic for water eyes/blocked tear ducts. Procedures include:
- Injections to reduce the production of tears
- Ectropion repair if the eyelid is turned out to put the tear duct back in the right place
- Perforated punctal plugs/punctoplasty to enlarge the entrance to the tear ducts
- Dacryocystorhinostomy to treat a blocked or narrowed tear duct
