MedicoLegal Expertise

Overview:

I provide Expert Witness & Medicolegal Services in:

General ophthalmology including cataract surgery

Oculoplastic (eyelid) and Lacrimal (tear duct) conditions

Profile:

I am a Bond-Solon trained expert witness with a Masters in Law from the University of London (UCL/Queen Mary) with Merit. I have over 10 years experience in the specialty.

I pride myself on delivering timely, reasoned, logical, and thorough medical reports. I act for both defendants and claimants.

In addition to my clinical and medicolegal work, I hold leadership roles in medical education, serving as Medical Student Lead for my department for UEA and ARU Universities. I am also an invited speaker at public events. These experiences have honed my ability to explain complex medical matters clearly and effectively — a skill essential in preparing high-quality medicolegal reports and confidently addressing questions from legal counsel during cross-examination.

I am happy to provide expert opinion in most areas of ophthalmic practice.

Scope of service:

I will accept instructions as an Expert Witness in General Ophthalmology, but have a special interest in cataract surgery, trauma and eyelid surgery including cosmetic surgery such as blepharoplasties.

I aim to provide timely, reasoned, logical, and thorough reports, which can be fully CPR/Court Compliant, or screening reports, according to my instructions.

I am happy to work via an Agency if preferred.

My service includes:

  • A turnaround time within 3 weeks of accepting instructions with all relevant documents – but a fast-track service is available on request (a fee uplift may apply)
  • I provide all reports and communications via email.
  • Attendance at conferences in person, by telephone and online
  • My Terms and Conditions of Service are the standard supplied by Bond Solon to its trained experts found here
  • I will adjust my terms of business under certain circumstances if instructed by an agency by prior agreement before accepting formal instruction
  • Condition and prognosis reports are carried out at the Colchester Eye Centre and Oaks Hospital. We have comprehensive diagnostic and consulting facilities.
  • Access to a full repertoire of diagnostic services including OCT, biometry and topography, refraction, computerised visual field analysis and photography (including wide-field retinal imaging).
